Chaturdashi is the 14th day of the waxing phase or waning phase of the moon in the Hindu Calendar. This is the day prior to new moon or full moon.
The word "Chaturdshi" comes from the Sanskrit words "Chatura" meaning for and " Dashi" means tenth day , literally meaning "fourteenth".The day is scared to the deities Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva . Chaturdashi is also governed by a fierce goddesses JwalaMalini, " garlanded with flames", it burns all the impurities of our mind, so we can reconnect with our true nature . According to scared texts, those who observed a fast and offer prayer to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva on this day are said to attend eternal virtues , brings immense lunar Grace to health, prosperity and peace.
