Pradosh Vrat is a significant Hindu fasting ritual on the 13th day of each lunar fortnight, dedicated to Lord shiva and goddesses Parvati. Hindu devotees believe ,it is one of the most powerful vrat. the brothers ritual is a penance aimed at Seeking good health, peace and liberation ( moksha). The word 'pradosh' means beginning part of the night or relating to the evening. So this is scared vrat is observed during evening Twilight and callef pradosh Vrat. according to the divine scripture sivapurana it is believed that Lord shiva and his consort fulfils the wishes of their devotees on this Vrat. The Vrat is usually observed on the 13th day of lunar month. according to the tale of Hindu mythology The Skanda Purana it is said that during the time of the churning of the ocean ( samudra manthan) Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison Hala Hala to protect the universe. As he drank the poison, his throat turned blue and he was in great pain. Goddesses Parvati with her divine powers intervened to Soothe him. The Skanda Purana beautifully describe the significance of the Pradosh fasting. Just visiting a Shiva temple and lightening a single lamp during the pradosh kaal is enough to please Mahadeva. Chanting of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra 108 times inside a shrine of Lord shiva and Parvati tranquilizers the mind and supports for spiritual upliftment as well as fulfilment of one's desire.
